But as a side note, we also wanted to make sure that the article doesn’t look like a sour product review. We wanted to honestly let you in on the side effects of using teeth whitening products, as much as increasing your self-awareness by a few notches.

Bleaching:

Everyone doesn’t have white teeth by birth – some people are subject to enamel, yellowish glow and etc. No matter how hard they brush, the yellowish color won’t fade away. Hence bleaching is the type of solution that they might like in the long run. The easiest way to bleach your teeth is to buy bleached toothpaste; this will give a whitish tint to the teeth. But if you want to be more thorough, just buy peroxide bleaching strips (cost: $20 – $45) and apply them as per the instructions. Don’t go for cheap products because cost is something you don’t want to compromise on; it’ll just ruin your teeth after a while.

White Strips:

Also known as bleachers or skinny strips, they are primarily soaked in a peroxide residue. The size of these strips is sort of generic; it is to let you adjust them to your mouth’s size. By the way, smaller strips don’t reach far back, or even touch the molars. But on the bright side, sometimes a full smile doesn’t reveal molars. If you want to be through ‘n through, buy something bigger. For results, you’ll have to wait for a few hours. Sometimes it even takes days as well.

Whitening Mouthwash:

Some mouthwash developers claim that their product can bestow a tinge of whiteness to your teeth. Usually such mouthwash bottles contain peroxide concentrate, which fights against the yellow enamel to remove it. Don’t use the mouthwash too much because soon enough, it will start to eat away at your gums, making them shrink, and your teeth root as well.

Snap On Teeth:

Although not really a DIY product, snap on teeth are equally famous. To say it bluntly, these teeth are artificially designed so that you can wear them over your real teeth, without letting anyone notice the difference. You should bear in mind that these teeth don’t last for a long time, they have to be cleaned thoroughly, and hard food should not be chewed as it’ll incur irreversible damage. The cost factor alone can mount up to $750 – $1,000, i.e. if you’re willing to go for this product.

One last word: Never-ever overuse a home teeth whitening kit. It’s true that your teeth will look shiny and brand new in the beginning, but soon enough you’ll develop over sensitivities to cold and hot temperatures. Plus, the average life of your teeth will be decreased drastically.
